Zachary Quinto To Be At Comic-Con 2014 With Starz's "The Chair"

Starz announced earlier this year that it was picking up its first unscripted reality 10-episode series "The Chair", which is slated for a release in Fall 2014. And best still, they are bringing a slice of the series to fans at San Diego Comic-Con just about 2 weeks from now!

Said to be making appearances at the panel held at the Mariott on Fri 25 July are Chris Moore, Shane Dawson, Anna Martemucci and.... gulp! Zachary Quinto!

I happened to spot the news on Twitter in my very busy timeline, because I was following Emmy-nominated writer Erik Patterson. This was the tweet "The Chair" PR originally posted:

A ZQC Fan At The Advance Screening of "Breakup At A Wedding" in NYC

Before the Door - an outfit founded by Zachary Quinto, Neal Dodson and Corey Moosa - is fast making a remarkable impact on the indie film scene.

With a high profile release of the Wall Street financial crisis drama "Margin Call" and the world premiere of "All Is Lost" (starring Robert Redford) at this year's Cannes, Before The Door has been heavily promoting a romcom made by their friends at PERIODS Films recently.

The movie called "Breakup At A Wedding" (a co-production with Anonymous Content) is literally about a breakup at a wedding, and its North American distributor Oscilloscope Laboratories ran a college tour for the movie, and advance screenings in the USA before it was released beginning June 18th across all cable VOD and digital platforms.

One such advance theatre screening was held at the AMC Loews Village 7 in New York on June 17, with a Q&A held after. Zachary Quinto was promoted to attend the event and a ZQC fan Davian Aw, who is currently doing an internship in New York, managed to get the chance to attend the special event.

Here is what happened that day:

At Hollyshorts Film Festival 2012: Lorie "Sunfell" Makes It To LA!

Another ZQ admirer manages to meet Zachary Quinto in person recently.

This time it's Lorie "Sunfell", who managed to gather her courage and make it to the city of Los Angeles for the Hollyshorts Film Festival earlier this month.

I know she's been hoping to meet Zach for a long time, and I am glad she got her time with Zach. Especially since many of us have experienced memorable face-to-face contact with the tall, handsome and very gracious man!

Here's Lorie's account of her LA adventure:

-----------------

When Lindsay "SantaFeFan" Robinson proposed that I go to Hollyshorts Film Festival back in May, my first thought was 'No way'.

I have great difficulty with crowds and noise, and, while this was not a convention (which I used to love going to), it was still going to be tough to negotiate. But she twisted my arm, (I finally got it working properly last week), and I booked a flight. To say that I was nervous about the whole thing was an understatement. But I found some courage and determination, and went.

At Hollyshorts Film Festival 2012: A Zachary Quinto Encounter

It was exciting times earlier this month for Zachary Quinto, Before The Door and the team from PERIODS Films.

The quirky web-series "PERIODS", produced by Before the Door and created by Victor Quinaz and Anna Martemucci, had its official worldwide premiere at the Hollyshorts Film Festival 2012 on opening night, August 9th.

Many Zachary Quinto fans are already familiar with "PERIODS" and quite a few of them were able to make it to Los Angeles' Grauman's Chinese Theatre to celebrate the premiere with Zach and his friends!

(To get to know more about "PERIODS", Victor Quinaz and Anna Martemucci - click here for my interview with these two wonderful creative people!)

I wish I could have been there to enjoy all those creative biceps that night. Plus, I really miss the fangirly biceps of my friends - @eserei27, @HardlyanAngel and @syellefan88 - after leaving them post-Comic-Con just two weeks ago. *sniff*

But it was also nice to see/ hear of a bunch of familiar ZQ fans getting together for a fun night in Hollywood.

The first fan report that I have on that night's events is from Gloria. Here's her rundown of the Hollyshorts opening night!

Hollyshorts 2012 Get the PERIODS: Q&A with Victor Quinaz and Anna Martemucci

Re:Creation of the Apple Crunch in Paradise
If you haven't heard it by now, this year's 8th Annual Hollyshorts Film Festival will be blooming with the world premiere of PERIODS.

The film festival held at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre from 9 to 16 August will see a flush of indie short films called PERIODS which are created by Victor Quinaz, Anna Martemucci and produced by Before The Door Pictures.

The quirky and often-tripped-out comedy series will open for Hollyshorts with the premiere of a new PERIODS piece starring Penn Badgley. Even “White Collar”'s Mozzie, Willie Garson has got his PERIODS too. He made a royally sweet appearance in a recent release called “FOPS”. Check it out below:

No topic is taboo with the PERIODS team as they make irreverent prods on a gamut of subjects from pilgrims, USA's founding fathers and one onery Santa, to witches, Vikings, exorcism and a re-take on the creation story.

Which brought me to wonder --- what kind of fun, warped minds are behind the making of PERIODS? Well, here are New York-based duo Victor Quinaz and Anna Martemucci to tell us more about their impudent brainchild.

A Special and Mr Spooky Halloween Greeting!

Just in good time to bring out the noirish heebie-jeebies, the disgustingly talented and good-looking creative team behind the graphic novel, "Mr Murder Is Dead" (an Archaia/ Before the Door publication) has something twistedly-spooky for the fans and readers!

Writer Victor Quinaz and illustrator Brent Schoonover have cooked up this special Mr Spook comic strip for the Halloween season.

At St Mark's Signing - Slayed By Zachary Quinto and His Biceps

Lovely surprises are very nice.

They are even nicer when they relate to Zachary Quinto.

Before heading to New York for NYCC, I dropped by Lala Land to spend some time with good friend Chelle. On the 1st morning I was there, we caught whiff of news that Zach seemed to be heading out of town, his lean biceps armed with a travel bag.

Little did I know that bb was heading to where I was also heading to! Kismet!

For on the next day, I saw a tweet from writer/ director Victor Quinaz announcing that there will be an off-NYCC signing for the graphic novel "Mr Murder Is Dead" at St Mark's comic shop on Saturday 15th October (8-10pm), together with artist Brent Schoonover and ..... get this - Zachary Quinto

My heart skipped a beat. Well, many beats actually.

NYCC 2011 - Those Killer Biceps of Victor Quinaz and Brent Schoonover

Last weekend's New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2011 was a busy, messy, totally memorable adventure for me.

It was my first time visiting the crowded sprawl of New York City, as well as experiencing NYCC itself.

More importantly, it was also the first time I was flexing my journalistic arms with an official press pass at one of the bigger comic conventions in the USA.

I did not, however, require any form of press access to meet two sets of killer biceps owned by the artistic duo of the detective noir graphic novel, "Mr Murder Is Dead".  They were none other than the co-creators of the graphic novel, Victor Quinaz and Brent Schoonover - who were both comfortably stationed at Archaia's booth for an autograph session on Friday afternoon.

Review of "Mr Murder Is Dead" - A Beautiful Homage to the Classical Comics

"Mr Murder Is Dead", the retro-noir fashioned detective graphic novel, has been receiving rave reviews since its launch at this year's SDCC.

And I just had to get one of our very own SArmy moderator and member, Claudia to give a review of the book written and drawn in a style that is not so common these days.

Here's Claudia's review:

"Mr Murder Is Dead", by Archaia Entertainment and Before the Door Pictures, is a graphic novel that should not be missed. As the first comic written and created by Victor Quinaz, "Mr Murder Is Dead" follows Detective Gould Kane, a.k.a. The Spook, in his retirement after the death of his arch nemesis, Mr. Murder. The story flashes back and forth between present day action and the events of the past in the 1930s and 1950s during The Spook’s heyday.

Victor Quinaz - The Mastermind for "Mr Murder Is Dead"

A long-time friend of the Before The Door team, film-maker/ screenwriter Victor Quinaz was hauled into the world of graphic novels with a murderous story which has been brewing in his mind for some time.

The result?

A pulp-noir styled detective graphic novel entitled "Mr Murder Is Dead", published by Archaia. The book was launched at this year's SDCC and preliminary reviews so far have been very positive!

It seems that "Mr Murder Is Dead" is being released officially this Wednesday on August 17th. I am not sure if you can even get hold of a copy online now as the graphic novel is sold out on TFAW!

Zachary Quinto fans would already be familiar with Victor's comedy web series called "PERIODS.". If you go 'huh'?? and haven't seen any of "PERIODS." -- where have you been all this while???

Understandably, Victor is a busy man. And I was pleasantly and squeefully surprised that he found the time to reply my questions for this interview:

Brent Schoonover - The Artistic Hitman For "Mr Murder Is Dead"

A couple of years back, Before The Door and Archaia officially announced their collaboration to publish two graphic novels.

One was "Lucid" (by Michael McMillian) and the other, which took some time to complete, was called "Mr Murder Is Dead".

"Mr Murder Is Dead", created and written by Before The Door's long-time friend Victor Quinaz, is a detective story within a story, styled in the pulp noir style reminiscent of Dick Tracy.

The specific style and period setting required an artist who could visually bring that era to life. And Minnesota-based illustrator/ comic artist Brent Schoonover was called to task.

Zachary Quinto Goes NERD in SDCC

For the last few years, faithful "Heroes" and Zachary Quinto fans would wait in line many hours ahead to get into his panels at SDCC.

This year, Zach will be at SDCC again together with Corey Moosa and Neal Dodson, his cohorts from Before The Door, and publishing partner, Archaia. But this time, the gang will be doing something different!!

You see, Zach is friends with Zac. As in Zachary Levi. As in the lead actor from "Chuck". As in Zac, the huge self-professed geek who started The Nerd Machine.

To give others who do not have SDCC tickets a chance to join in all the geekery, The Nerd Machine has joined hands with BreakMedia (a leading digital publisher) to host a NerdHQ offsite at the Gaslamp District! The festivities will be held at Jolt’N Joe’s.

Fairy Tales and Romantic Comedies

... Two things that have been associated with Zachary Quinto recently.

Actually there's another -- unkempt beards. But I think I want to forget about that. :|

Personally, I am not totally adverse to beards. Some beards can look quite sexy, but the fashion in which Zach was spotting when some paps pics were taken, weren't exactly the kind that would throw me in a heated frenzy.

Although... on second thought, it kinda made me think of this:

Archaia Teases About "Mr Murder Is Dead"

Sneak peaks get me all tingly.

And I tingled when some visual teasers were tweeted by Archaia's robust PR and Marketing Manager, Mel Caylo, earlier this week.

These teasers relate to the comic project called "Mr Murder Is Dead", which is jointly produced by Before The Door Productions and Archaia Comics.

Ever since the graphic novel was formally announced in 2009, fans have been waiting patiently for the graphic novel to be released. This will finally happen this year, with the book's launch supposedly taking place at SDCC 2011.

I can't wait for my SDCC-going friends to help me nab an autographed copy!!

So who is this Mr Murder, and why is he dead?

Periods Before Christmas .. and After

Watching the "Periods: Before After II" triptych makes me want to dash right out of my room, into the stores and get myself one of those cheesy Christmas sweaters. Oh, and a pair of grey undies. Coz the combi would look so totally sexy.

The things Zachary Quinto and those guys make you wanna do. ... Kinda creepy! :p

Metallic Elements Added ... Biceps Included

Does Zachary Quinto secretly know about this blog specially dedicated to his very nom-nom-nom-y biceps???

Coz seriously folks, this is twice within the span of a few days that he's shown off those squeezable arms of his in revealing sleeveless tops. This time, they were having lunch and snugly accompanied by a body-skimming turquoise tee. (Source: Zach-quinto.net)

I sit transfixed, staring at the vision on my computer screen. It's a nice way to get my eyes massaged :D In my line of work where you look at figures all day, it's nice to look at OTHER kind of figures *g*

Good Things Come in 3Q's

The Rule of Three - where things seem to be funnier, more engaging and much more satisfying.

C'mon...  you have got to know that.

There's the Three Little Pigs. The Three Amigos. The Three Musketeers. The Three Blind Mice. The Power of Three (remember Charmed?) and the ultimate ominpotence of the Holy Trinity. Just to list a few.

Talking about the last one... :- meaningful pause -: ... never mind, more on that later. *g*

So The Three Q's - the talented-funny Victor Quinaz, Philip Quinaz and Zachary Quinto - have now presented us with the humourously deadpan "BEFORE AFTER" which non-coincidentally, consists of Three Short Vignettes.

The World, A Stage

Curtains! Spotlights! Cue. Enter Stage.

The magic of theatre. I succumb.

And as most of us are well-aware, so does theatre-buff Zachary Quinto. Being in NYC and closer to Broadway, Zach seems to be taking in the theatre scene with relish!

He was spotted attending the opening of a brand new musical, "Bloodsong of Love" with pal Jesser Tyler Ferguson (Source: Theatermania). We also suspect his latest tweet was referring to a Broadway theatre play entitled "When The Rain Stops Falling". If you are curious what the play is about, check out The New York Times' review here.
