After his successful run off-broadway at Signature Theatre's "Angels in America" last year, I am not surprised he is eager to get back on stage again.
When Zach met some fans at the recent Hollywood Short Film Festival, he mentioned in passing that he was going to be in Boston for a play in early 2013.
This time it would be "The Glass Menagerie" (written by Tennessee Williams) with the American Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.) that also features Emmy Award-winner Cherry Jones ("24", "Awake"). Actor Fran Krantz ("Dollhouse", "Cabin In The Woods") also mentioned he had auditioned for the play with both Cherry and Zach, and I think he will also be in the production.
Incidentally, like an elegantly tangled cat's cradle, Sarah Paulson who is Zach's current co-star in Season 2 of "American Horror Story" (AHS) was also in the Broadway revival of "The Glass Menagerie" with another AHS star, Jessica Lange. Moreover, Paulson was romantically linked with Jones for a number of years.
According to a new Elle Magazine article, Zach revealed that he will be taking the role Tom Wingfield - the frustrated young man eager to escape from the grip of his controlling mother Amanda (Cherry Jones) -- an early Southern belle version of the Tiger Mom. I can just visualize his strong stage presence when he's in character.
But I have some fortunate friends who need not imagine.
They will be heading to Boston's Loeb Drama Center in February 2013 to see Zachary in "The Glass Menagerie". The John Tiffany-directed play will run from February 2 to March 3. Single tickets will be on sale starting December 4! So, perhaps some of you can make it there too!

There's no Fran Krantz but actors Celia Keenan-Bolger and Brian J. Smith (from "Gossip Girl") are set to be on stage!
