Hardly Marginal At All

What are the chances that a new production company's first movie would be greenlighted, go into production soon after with an impressive cast, and then get invited to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival??

This was exactly what happened with Before The Door Picture's movie, "Margin Call", directed by JC Chandor.

The movie - a thriller - covers the 24-hour period during a financial crisis in Wall Street, and stars Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Demi Moore, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker and Penn Badgley. Of course, our very own bb Zachary Quinto, will also be flexing his biceps in a business suit in this movie. (I know I know, we *all* want to be the pen in the above pic. sigh.)

After production wrapped up, there was awhile when things were rather quiet regarding "Margin Call". Then, excitedly enough, a flurry of news came trickling in.

News blurbs emerged in Harper's Bazaar (Nov 2010 issue) and Screen International magazine. And Variety Magazine, reported on the good distribution sales of "Margin Call" internationally across several countries. I haven't yet seen Singapore being listed, but if "Margin Call" proves to be popular and continues to get good hype, I'm quite sure our local distributors will pick it up too!

I am also certain that publicity for the movie is boosted with Zach being constantly in the news while he is doing his run with Signature Theatre's "Angels in America" in NYC.

The fantastic news didn't stop there. In the first week of December, it was announced that "Margin Call" will have it's world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival! Woohoo!

The Sundance Film Festival 2011 will take place in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah from January 20th - 30th. You can check out the complete list of films at the Sundance Institute's website!

With the hype building up about "Margin Call", a website for the movie was launched amongst other social network sites. There's only a splash page for the website, but I think there should be more stuff up there soon. I hope!

As usual, I would Love to hear from anyone who will be going to the world premiere of "Margin Call". Tweet or message me if you are going to the Sundance Film Festival and want to send me da newz! :D

And on a non-"Margin Call" note, just because this is way TOO adorable (there are dogs, eyebrows and Zach. What else can you expect?), don't miss clicking the Side by Side interview with Susan Blackwell on Broadway.com! Name.... That... DOG!!
